TECHNICAL DOCUMENT USAGE UTILITY
This utility program, named "USAGE" provides a relative means of determining what users (terminals) are absorbing system resources at a given moment.
This utility will list to either the screen or a printer a report. The report lists users and the menu selections that they are currently running. The report is sorted in descending order with those users who appear to be showing the most activity on their lines displayed at the top of the report. Since the output of this utility will show the PICK users with the most activity on their lines, it cannot provide a complete picture of the entire system load since the ABC mainframe is shared by other (non-PICK) environments.

Start "USAGE". A series of asterisks(*) will display. Each asterisk represents a 'snapshot' of the WHERE verb. If the system is heavily loaded (slow), you may see fewer asterisks displayed than when there is a light load. During periods when the system is very slow, you may need to increase the time period (seconds) to 45 or 60 (or more) seconds to gain a more accurate report.
The following page shows a sample report with explanations of the columns.
